Retreats, Empowerments - 2007

mingyur10

Mingyur Rinpoche is the emanation of Vajrapani. His previous reincarnations were Tertons and had discovered many precious termas of both the Nyingma and Kagyu lineages, including the Karma Pakshi Guru Yoga. The present 7th Mingyur Rinpoche was born in Nepal in 1976, he is a rare combination of youth and wisdom. At age thirteen, with the blessing of his root guru His Eminence Tai Situ Rinpoche, he entered the traditional three-year retreat in Sherab Ling (near Dharamsala, India) under the guidance of Saljey Rinpoche. After he completed the retreat at age seventeen, H.E Tai Situ Rinpoche appointed him the retreat master and later on trusted him with the responsibility of helping establish a new monastic college at Sherab Ling. Rinpoche's training continued with intensive studies of Buddhist philosophy, seven years at Sherab Ling and one year at Dzongsar Monastic College. He has received empowerments and instructions from many renowned masters of Dzogchen and Mahamudra, including his father Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche and Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche.

Furthermore, the eminent Nyoshul Rinpoche transmitted to him the sacred lineage of Trekcho and Togal which by tradition is passed on only on a one master-one disciple basis in intensive retreat. Since 2001, Rinpoche has travelled several times to Asia, Europe, and North America to give dharma teachings and meditation retreats. He quickly became known for his unique style of teachings, where scholarship and insight mingle with remarkable ease, lucidity, and a great sense of humor.

His visits to Vancouver under the sponsorship of Palpung Phende Kunkyab in 2001 - 2005 have benefited many dharma students and generated great enthusiasm. Contact palpungvan@shaw.ca for information on coming retreats.
